Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry finally premiered
at the Sundance Film Festival yesterday!
I've been working with Alison on all
documentary collateral for the event:
movie posters, stickers, buttons etc.

I know this is only the beginning...
for both Alison Klayman and the film. Oscars anyone?

Hello GQ!

gqdg1

Date: 06/28/11

Before starting my GQ job, I was hired from the GQ Design Group to build their portfolio site. This site, which is often used by Sales Reps to pitch to potential clients, enables you to browse the sections, download high res pdfs, get information about the sections (client / talent / photographer / date) and search using keywords.

I built this site in Wordpress so that the team can update it easily as sections get wrapped up.

SEE YOU LATER FREELANCE! Today
was my last day as a full-time freelancer at USA Network. I loved working there!! What a great team!

I will be starting at GQ Magazine in
July as Associate Art Director on
the business/promo/marketing side.
This will be my first permanent on
staff position and I'm really excited
about this new chapter in my career.

I will be traveling for two weeks starting on Sunday along the West Coast and will come back completely refreshed.

Stay tuned!

USA Network invites you to spend your summer with television's most original characters. This month, USA proudly presents six original series—four returning favorites and two new series.
It will be a summer of surprises and
non-stop action, old friends and fresh faces. Only on USA, where Original
series are all new, all summer long.

After agreeing on Summer Blue 285C, I worked directly with Events / Marketing / SVP of Network and created a "look" for our summer screenings. I designed all collateral, from the program trifolds to
the menus.

I designed the print collateral for the screenings including banners, t-shirts, lanyards, programs, postcards, water bottle labels and poster giveaways.
There were also ads that ran to promote these screenings: in the New Yorker, Entertainment Weekly and in the subway for New York, in the LA Times for LA, San Fran Chronicle for San Fran and Chicago Tribune for Chicago.

The Character Project short films are available to consumers through a
multi-day touring exhibition beginnin
g in New York City on Friday, May 13th (see here) and visiting Los Angeles,
San Francisco and Chicago. Audiences
in these cities will be invited to visit customized screening capsules as
unique as the films that inspired them.

In order to promote the NY container screenings for the Character Project
short films,
I designed the cover wrap
for Friday's AM New York issue. This included the times/locations of the screenings and brief intro to CP, as
well as the movie posters and short descriptions of each short.

USA partnered with RSA Films and Ridley
& Tony Scott to once again turn a lens on America's characters, this time through
the medium of the moving image. There were two VIP Screenings of the Character Project short films, in LA and NY, and I
did all the print/some digital collateral for the event.

I conceptualized and designed everything from the CP napkin to a static ad on the New Yorker iPad app, and had a great team to work with at USA Network.

For USA's Upfront Event at Lincoln Center
this year, I resized and cropped all the
new retouched photographs for use in projections, kiosks, cubes outside and inside the venue.

To promote the T+L Family iPad Issue,
I was asked to design a graphic for the check-in page. I used visual cues from
the actual Family issue to make it visually consistent—such as the colors and the condensed font.

I was invited to speak to undergrads at Penn about Careers in the Arts. It was a great experience and I loved giving some tips on things that I've learned over the past few years.

They filmed the panel and I'll post the
link here once it is available.

I updated the minisite background for the AOTL page with the two sponsor logos. I also worked on the new purple rollover promo tile on the right of the page.

Because of ad placement issues for digital magazines on the iPad, we
decided to create an Advertiser TOC that would be placed at the beginning of the issue so that consumers could tap the
ad thumbnail and jump directly to the ad. This way all advertisers are given priority. I conceptualized and designed this page taking visual cues from Edit.

I've been in charge of iPad-related things in our department (ie. designing ads, adding functionality to pages, creating decks for the iPad), while always being directed by my Art Director. Download the T+L App here.

I was given the opportunity to fully manage the holiday card for 2011, from conceptualizing to printing. I had the cards printed on uncoated stock and
after many color palette choices, decided on some great metallic colors.

Front: "Extraordinary People have Extraordinary Wish lists." On the inside, there is a post it note that has post it adhesive on the back that can be used and reused many times. This is meant to be filled in by whoever receives this card. My co-worker, Philip Schumacher, did the handwriting.
